Clear + Brilliant® is a non-ablative fractional laser that renews the upper layers of your skin without the recovery time a stronger resurfacing laser demands. Living in Fresno and across the Central Valley means more sun, more heat, and more of the early tone and texture changes that come with both. For 18+ years, our team has built a reputation on proven treatments that actually fit into real life, and this one fits beautifully. Think of it as skin maintenance rather than a full overhaul. We will also tell you if something else on our menu is the better call for your skin, because that is how we have kept patients coming back since 2007.

What Is Clear + Brilliant®?
Clear + Brilliant® is a laser system made by Solta Medical, the same company behind Fraxel®. You will hear people call it “baby Fraxel,” and that nickname is fair. It delivers the same fractional approach at a gentler intensity, which is exactly why it has become a go-to for patients who want visible improvement without disappearing from their lives for a week.
The system is cleared by the FDA for dermatological procedures requiring coagulation of soft tissue and general skin resurfacing.
How Does Clear + Brilliant® Work?
The laser creates thousands of tiny columns of treated tissue in your skin, called microscopic treatment zones. Each one is surrounded by healthy, untouched tissue, and that surrounding tissue is what drives fast healing. Research on this approach found the skin surface re-forms in under 24 hours. That is why downtime is shorter than ablative treatments.
The system uses two handpieces at different wavelengths, and choosing between them is where provider judgment comes in:
- Original (1440 nm) reaches slightly deeper. Best for texture, the look of pores, early fine lines, and collagen support.
- Perméa (1927 nm) works closer to the surface. Best for tone, sun spots, and overall brightness.
Your consultation determines which one your skin needs, or whether a combination makes more sense.
What Can Clear + Brilliant® Treat?
Clear + Brilliant® is built for the stage where you look in the mirror and think “my skin just looks tired.”
In a clinical study of a 1927 nm non-ablative fractional laser, most patients saw moderate to significant improvement in sun-related pigment after just two treatments, with high satisfaction and no serious adverse events.
Patients typically come to us for:
- Dull, rough, or uneven texture
- Sun spots and general discoloration
- Enlarged-looking pores
- Early fine lines
- Loss of glow and radiance
- Prevention, before concerns become corrections

Am I a Good Candidate for Clear + Brilliant®?
Great candidates are adults with mild to moderate tone and texture concerns who want gradual, natural-looking improvement. Age is not the deciding factor. We treat patients in their late 20s using it preventively and patients in their 60s using it for maintenance.
Non-ablative fractional lasers target water, not melanin, which makes them a safer category for deeper skin tones than light-based options. That is a meaningful difference from our IPL photofacial, which performs best on lighter skin tones. For many of our Central Valley patients, this matters a lot.
Clear + Brilliant® may not be right for you if you have melasma, rosacea, active infections or cold sores, eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area, a history of keloid scarring, light sensitivity, or if you are taking isotretinoin, systemic steroids, or photosensitizing medication. Solta’s pre-treatment screening covers the full list.
Your free consultation includes VISIA skin analysis, which images sun damage sitting below the surface that you cannot see yet. It is the fastest way to find out whether this treatment matches your skin.
What Happens During a Clear + Brilliant® Treatment?
We cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream, then let it work for about 30 minutes. Once it comes off and your skin dries, treatment begins.
Your provider glides the handpiece across the treatment area for roughly 30 minutes of active treatment. The device uses Intelligent Optical Tracking® to maintain contact and deliver energy evenly, so coverage stays uniform instead of patchy. Most patients describe warmth and a prickly sensation rather than pain. Plan on 45 to 60 minutes total, start to finish and including numbing time
What Does Recovery Look Like?
Expect pink, warm skin that feels a bit like a mild sunburn. Mild to moderate redness and swelling typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Over the next several days your skin may feel slightly gritty as it sheds and renews. Do not exfoliate, do not pick, and skip retinoids until your provider clears you.
Most patients return to normal activities the same day and wear light makeup the next.
Then there is the part that decides how long your results actually last: sun protection. A randomized trial found that people using sunscreen daily showed 24% less skin aging than those using it occasionally. In Fresno, this is not optional advice. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is the difference between protecting your investment and your results.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
In recent studies, patients saw visible improvement after 4 to 6 treatments, typically spaced a 4 weeks apart. Many patients notice softer, brighter skin within one to two weeks of a single session, but the meaningful change builds across a series.
Maintenance also matters; in one study of a 1927 nm fractional laser, pigment improvement was significant at one month but had partially drifted back toward baseline by three months. Skin keeps living, and in this climate it keeps meeting the sun. Periodic sessions are how patients hold their results.

Our team includes highly-trained providers and staff working under medical supervision. We do not chase trends. We invest in proven treatments, train deeply on them, and deliver them consistently. Our accolades reflect that approach:

Clear + Brilliant is a fractional laser that resurfaces skin in thousands of microscopic columns, while IPL uses broadband light to target pigment and redness. Because non-ablative fractional lasers target water rather than melanin, Clear + Brilliant is generally the safer choice for deeper skin tones. IPL often works better for visible redness, broken capillaries, and rosacea. Many patients end up using both at different points.
Book at least four weeks out. Redness typically settles within 24 to 48 hours, but the brightening effect continues developing over one to two weeks. For a wedding or big event, a four-week buffer gives your skin time to look its best rather than its newest.
Yes, though sequencing matters. Solta advises against laser treatment if you have had botulinum toxin injections or dermal fillers within the past two weeks. Many patients build a plan that layers laser resurfacing with injectables over time, and our providers will map the order for you.
No. Clear + Brilliant is an elective cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance. Your consultation is free, and we will walk through pricing, financing, and package options together with no pressure.
Yes, with commitment to sun protection. You will need to avoid unprotected sun exposure before and after treatment and wear broad-spectrum SPF daily. If you have a beach vacation or an outdoor stretch coming up, we may suggest waiting. We would rather time it well than rush it.
Yes. The neck, chest, and hands are commonly treated, and they are often where sun damage shows first. Treatment time and session count vary by area, which we will map out at your consultation.
